Sailing Area
Canary Islands
You will find the Canary Islands near the continent Africa, on 28 degrees north latitude. These are vulcanic islands with a lot of variety & relief and differ from eachother with an amazing nature. The citizens are hospitable and cordial. The harbours are modern and well kept with all facilities you need; small fishermen's villages and beautiful bays to throw your anchor. A paradise for sailors!
During our winter and spring the Canary Islands are having a pleasant climate. During the summer temperature will rise rarely above 30 degrees. The Canary Stream (a branch of the Atlantic Gulf stream), which surrounds all islands and the north east trade-winds moderate the temperature: each season is asking for summer clothes in your luggage, with some warm clothes for the nights.
The weatherconditions on the Canary Islands are influenced by the Azores high and the trade-winds, which causes an almost constantly northern wind all the year round. The wind acceleration zones are typical for the Canary Islands and here counts one golden rule: "Reef early and generously, because the wind will increase by another 15 knots". So reef early, because the wind can increase quickly with 15 knots! A guarantee for spectacular sailing! South of the islands the winds are more moderated and because of this relaxed sailing is possible as well.
The sailing area is not small: if you like longer tracks, you can go from Puerto de Mogan to the westerly islands and return via Lanzarote or Fuerteventura. Also the portuguese island Madeira, 250 miles north from the Canary Islands, is an option.

Greece
Greece stands for sun, water, wind and hundreds of islands. Attractive elements for a sailor. At the departure from one island, you have got the next one already in sight! On your way there is a big chance to meet delfins and turtles. Greece has a hospitable population, a rich culture, a lot of taverns and beautiful bays and beaches.
The Saronic and Argolic Gulf are east of the Peleponesos and west of the Cyclades. The islands are
partly green and woody. Characteristic for this area are the red roofed houses and cypresses. You can see the
history in the turkish, italian and greece influences. Especially the small harbours and bays without
mass tourism are a visit worthy! |

The Levkas area is situated west of the continent and the Peleponesos. Here you will find the islands: Levkas, Ithaka, Kefalonia, Zakynthos and Kythira. Corfu and Paxi are north of it. This area is fantastic green with lots of olive & lemon trees. A lot of venetian influences. The houses are colourful painted. Sailing here is special. Big and small islands relieve one another and each island has good anchor places in small bays. Sometimes hidden for the outside world. White beaches and blue/green water.
Kroatia This is the land of the 1000 islands. In the main time it grew to a popular sailing destination and not without reason! Mostly you are sailing under the big blue sky and a warm sun, from island to island. An acqaintance with delfins isn't an exception and you can enjoy anchoring in silent blue bays! |

Turkey
Sailing on the blue Mediterranean Sea, along the waste and whimsical south-west coast of Turkey. Here you can enjoy sun, sea and wind and above all the enormous hospitality of the local people. Nice fishermen's places, anchoring in protected bays, swimming,... It is not called "Turkish Riviera" without reason!
